Dish Food & Events Names Jennifer Cole-Ruiz as New Executive Chef

Ryan Corvaia, owner and founder of Dish Food & Events, has announced the appointment of Jennifer Cole-Ruiz as the company’s new Executive Chef. In this role she will oversee the culinary operations for the off-premise catering and hospitality company.

Most recently, Chef Cole-Ruiz made her New York City debut as Executive Chef at Taberna on the Upper West Side. She then moved to the Fat Goose in Williamsburg, where she was awarded with the Open Table Diner’s Choice Award 2012. Chef Cole-Ruiz also appeared on season eight of Food Network’s television series Chopped, and was named the winner.

Prior to her Executive Chef positions in New York, Chef Cole-Ruiz spent five years in Atlanta working in several high profile restaurants, such as Partners and Indigo, Bice and the Hedgerose Heights Inn. She then moved to New Orleans to work with James Beard winner Susan Spicer for two years, first as a roundsman and then as a pastry chef. In the summer of 1996, she went to Spain to fulfill a childhood dream and didn’t look back. After being chef/owner of Cornucopia in Madrid for three years, she began moving around Spain to learn regional cuisines. Having worked with Spanish greats, such as Michelin star winners Juan Mari Arzak and Frances Paniego, she followed her career to Paris, where she worked as sous-chef in Le Truffiere (mentioned in Michelin guide book). Returning to Madrid, she became chef de cuisine for Andres Madrigal (winner of two Michelin stars) at Balzac. Chef Cole-Ruiz has also worked as sous-chef for Jean Paul Vinay (winner of the 1st Michelin star at award winning Bulli restaurant before the arrival of Ferran Adria) and Roberto Limas (winner of the National Gastronomic Award). Most recently, she was mentioned as "Best Female Chef" in Madrid for her work at Ene and was the opening chef for the gastronomic restaurant in the long awaited five star hotel Eurostars Madrid Tower.
