Organizations of all shapes and sizes should have an independent fraud risk assessment conducted by a third-party company every three years.

Ryan J. Hauber, MBA, CFE, partner-in-charge of risk advisory services at Honkamp Krueger & Co., P.C. (HK) has been selected to present at this year’s international conference for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE), June 17-22 in Orlando, Fla.

Hauber’s presentation, “Addressing the Business Risk of Fraud in 2012 and Beyond,” will review several key areas and items which are susceptible to fraudulent behavior in various industries and organizations. Addressing the business risk of fraud is an under-hyped best practice for organizations interested in helping to proactively protect their employees, knowledge capital, reputations and assets. “Organizations of all shapes and sizes should have an independent fraud risk assessment conducted by a third-party company every three years,” says Hauber. “It is a proactive best-practice used to help organizations reduce potential losses and put procedures in place to detect fraud earlier.” Those attending the presentation will also get an overview on recent fraud statistics and facts, along with items that provoke the cause-and-effect conundrum related to recognizing fraud risk.

The ACFE conference is the world’s largest anti-fraud event with an attendance of over 2,300 professionals. It allows business professionals to explore current challenges in the fight against fraud and learn new skills and techniques for fraud investigation, prevention and deterrence, ethics and compliance, fraud auditing, risk management and more.

Hauber is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and has over 15 years of global consulting experience for both public and private sectors. He has extensive experience with regulatory compliance, fraud, forensic, internal controls, investigative engagements and internal audit management. He has been a frequent lecturer for the past 10 years on important industry topics at national and international venues with the National Retail Federation (NRF), Association of Audit Committee Members, Inc. (AACMI) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He has also been featured in national publications including Retail Merchandiser Magazine and Smart Business Magazine and has served on the board of directors for two private companies located in Michigan and Minnesota.
