Velocity Merchant Services (http://getvms.com), one of Illinois’ largest credit card payment providers, is one of the first organizations to be awarded the title of Certified Payments Professional™ (CPP) by the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA). This designation was introduced by the ETA in November 2011 as a way to help validate and unite professionals within the payments industry.
Until now, there hasn’t been a reliable way for merchants to distinguish an experienced payments professional from someone relatively new to the industry. By proving their depth of knowledge in completing a rigorous certification exam, Velocity Merchant Services hopes their new CPP designation will allow them to stand out from the crowd as a true credit card payment professional.
“Having earned our CPP, our merchants – both current and future - can rest assured knowing that they’re receiving the highest level of payments expertise available,” says Hafez Barakat, Velocity Merchant Services’ Vice President. “We hope that merchants will now have a better way to select a credit card service provider, instead of just relying on gut instinct or sales pressure.”
Velocity Merchant Services joins nearly 200 of its industry’s colleagues in attaining the ETA’s first ever round of CPP designations. The ETA hopes the designation will help motivate recipients to stay current with the industry’s trends while providing a level of certainty to businesses searching for a credit card payment provider.
In addition to meeting the program's education and experience requirements, those awarded the CPP designation must complete a minimum of 36 hours of industry-related continuing professional education every three years.
By successfully meeting the CPP’s stringent requirements, VMS has joined an exclusive community of electronic transactions professionals who have earned this distinguished certification. In doing so, Velocity Merchant Services has positioned itself as a company that’s committed to bringing a high level of expertise and distinction to its customers. Further, a competent CPP-certified staff is crucial to maintaining a competitive advantage in the field.
VMS is proud to be recognized by the ETA as a leader in the credit card payments field.
