Unfortunately, there is too much incorrect and unreliable information on the internet. To answer the call for accurate health information, our classes will always be led by a board certified physician or registered professional.

As a result of U.S. healthcare data showing the increasing demand patients have to be more involved in healthcare decision making and their desire to be more knowledgeable about their health, Northwest Indiana multi-specialty physician group Medical Specialists has created Medical Specialists University (MSU).
MSU is Medical Specialists’ newest education initiative that will offer free educational healthcare seminars to the public. Class topics will cover a variety of medical issues. Some topics slated for early 2012 includes diabetic foot & wound care, pediatric nutrition & obesity and depression & anxiety.
According to the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project, searching online for health information is one of the top three most common online activities. Their research also found that of all U.S. adults who go online, 59 percent use the internet to obtain health information. That number significantly increases for women, those in their 20s and those with higher education and incomes.
“We know that patients increasingly want access to health information,” said Alexander Stemer, M.D., president and CEO of Medical Specialists. “Unfortunately, there is too much incorrect and unreliable information on the internet. To answer the call for accurate health information, our classes will always be led by a board certified physician or registered professional.”
Medical Specialists University kicks off on Thursday, March 29, 2012. The first class will focus on Diabetic Foot and Skin Care.
