MA is focused on presenting and assembling in Atlanta the best design practices, products, and ideas in architecture and design, furnishings, materials, and innovation. Everything is connected ‘360 degrees’.
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) March 12, 2012
From Friday, June 1 through Sunday, June 12, MA (Modern Atlanta) presents MA12 “Design is Human”, a series of events celebrating international design excellence and creative culture. For the fifth year in a row, MA12 establishes Atlanta as the design hub of the Southeastern US and a sought-after destination for the international design community.
MA12 features a citywide series of programs that highlights design excellence in many areas of life: architecture, interior design, visual arts, and social responsibility. Modern Atlanta was created in 2007 by Bernard McCoy, MA Founder, and Elayne DeLeo, MA Co-Founder and Event Director. Hansgrohe, the preeminent manufacturer and global pioneer in the Kitchen and Bath industry, is a major sponsor of this year’s MA12.
According to Russ Wheeler, president of Hansgrohe USA, "We are very excited about partnering with Modern Atlanta and participating in their upcoming design events as there is a natural synergy between us. Modern Atlanta's mission is to offer a platform for design-focused programs with the concept that ‘Design Is Human’. Our designer brand Axor exemplifies this commitment as Hansgrohe collaborates with world renowned designers who bring their ‘human’ visions to reality. Thanks to Modern Atlanta, we have the opportunity to share our mutual passion for design and celebrate it with the local community."
Again this year, MA highlights bold ideas and showcases innovative design and desirable products from established and emerging brands and designers from the United States, Europe, and emerging markets in Asia and Africa. Each year, Design Is Human pushes the boundaries of applied contemporary design and modern urbanism to new heights. Notes McCoy, “MA is focused on presenting and assembling in Atlanta the best design practices, products, and ideas in architecture and design, furnishings, materials, and innovation. Everything is connected ‘360 degrees’."
Major MA12 events include the MA Design Exhibition and Home Tour Launch event on Friday, June 8 at Terminus 2 in Buckhead, and the Annual MA Home Tour, curated by the Atlanta AIA Chapter, on Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10. Tickets to the Home Tour are $35 per person which includes entry to the June 8 MA Design Exhibition & Home Tour Launch event. By offering thoughtful and thought-provoking events, Modern Atlanta continues to create excitement in the global design arena, not just in the Southeastern USA. “Every year in Atlanta during our Design Is Human week, Modern Atlanta presents some of the most recognized names in architecture and design. We are proud that world-class brands, firms and academia noted for their design excellence will all be part of MA12 as well,” notes DeLeo.
The mission of MA (Modern Atlanta) is to offer a platform for multidisciplinary events in Atlanta focusing on the concept that “Design Is Human”: it inspires, educates and delights – while it also encourages sustainable practices in the corporate and public spheres.
