"Money Management 4 Kids is a wonderfully designed, well thought-out curriculum, that will help students understand what money is really about,” - Annette Mixon, Sylvan Learning - San Francisco, franchisee.

ABS Learning Systems, LLC, creator of the premier financial education program for children - Money Management 4 Kids - is now making their program available directly to consumers.
Established in 2005, Money Management 4 Kids (Money Management For Kids) is designed to teach the basics of money management, accounting, wealth management and economics, to children ages 8 to 12. Studies have shown that the earlier children learn appropriate money management skills the better they will perform financially later in life. Beginning the wealth building process before adolescence is critical as children become keenly aware of the importance money plays in society by the age of 8.
Money Management 4 Kids uses role-playing exercises, which are critical to maximizing the developmental learning potential of each child. In order to facilitate learning and maintain a high level of interest with children, our curriculum incorporates all the elements of an exciting adventure.
Presented through the eyes of a hero figure, a cow named Moo La, the children undertake an exciting journey of self-discovery, while learning to overcome obstacles and personal challenges. The children’s “My Journey” parallels Moo La’s, the goal of which is to acquire long-term income producing assets while avoiding unnecessary debt and liabilities.
Money Management 4 Kids is interspersed with concepts drawn from cognitive behavioral psychology, which enable the positive development of a child’s relationship with and attitude towards money. Given the impact of the recent financial crisis on our economy, there is an undeniable need for a program that provides children with a sound financial foundation, stressing responsibility and management skills that will inevitably lead them to financial independence as adults.
“We have taken great care to design a program that combines the practical nuts and bolts of financial literacy with the psychological aspects of money. There is no public or private institution that offers anything comparable,” said Adam Shaw, the founder and CEO of ABS Learning Systems, LLC and Money Management 4 Kids. “You can expect your child to acquire effective money management and investment skills that will provide a lifelong ability to make informed – rather than reactionary – financial decisions.”
Money Management 4 Kids is a 32-hour program that has been broken down into four different modules for easy learning. Each module includes detailed lesson plans that provide step-by-step instructions that prompt, narrate and guide the parent through the material. Additionally, each module includes an academic text, which provides the theoretical background and explanation of the financial, psychological and cognitive concepts related to children and money management and a workbook that acts as a fun and interactive learning tool for the child.
“Money Management 4 Kids is a wonderfully designed, well thought-out curriculum, that will help students understand what money is really about,” says Annette Mixon, Sylvan Learning franchisee who conducted an independent third party testing of the program at her center in San Francisco. “It is a fun, colorful, interactive and informative way to help kids understand how important it is to think about money in a different way - understanding the difference between needs and wants and to think positively about putting money aside not to save, but to manage and prepare for whatever comes their way!”
