Wasatch Emerging Market Small Cap, Wasatch Global Opportunities, and Wasatch Large Cap Value are recognized with 2012 Lipper Awards for industry leading risk-adjusted returns

We remain committed to an in-depth research process in the U.S. and around the world, and we’ll continue to control capacity in funds where we think performance could be compromised by excessive scale.

Today three Wasatch Funds received 2012 Lipper Awards for industry-leading risk-adjusted returns. Wasatch Funds were honored as #1 in three categories:

  •     The Wasatch Emerging Markets Small Cap Fund(WAEMX) was honored as #1 in the emerging markets category based on risk-adjusted performance over the three-year period ending 12/31/11 (out of 296 funds). Fund managers Roger Edgley and Laura Geritz focus on small-cap companies in emerging markets, in one of the industry’s few mutual funds specific to that market segment. The Fund closed to new investors as of February 24, 2012; existing investors and financial advisers or retirement plan sponsors with established positions will continue to have access to the Fund for both current and future clients /plan participants.
  •     The Wasatch Global Opportunities Fund(WAGOX) received a Lipper Award. The Fund was honored as the #1 global small-/mid-cap fund based on risk-adjusted performance over the three-year period ending 12/31/11 (out of 61 funds). The Wasatch Global Opportunities Fund is focused on small and micro-cap foreign and domestic companies with market capitalization of less than $5 billion. This Fund is co-managed by Roger Edgley, JB Taylor, and Ajay Krishnan.
  •     The Wasatch Large Cap Value Fund(FMIEX), managed by Ralph Shive and Michael Shinnick, was honored as the #1 large-cap value fund based on risk-adjusted returns over the ten-year period ending 12/31/11 (out of 239 funds). The Fund seeks above-average dividend yield among domestic large-cap companies.

Said Gene Podsiadlo, Director of Mutual Funds, “What’s really special about this are the styles, market cap, and time ranges covered by the three Wasatch Funds receiving Lipper Awards for 2011. We remain committed to an in-depth research process in the U.S. and around the world, and we’ll continue to control capacity in funds where we think performance could be compromised by excessive scale. We’re gratified to receive the Lipper Awards.”
