MedSpring Urgent Care today announced the opening of its first Houston center. This location serves the west Houston area from the southwest corner of Memorial and Kirkwood at 14045 Memorial Drive. Open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week including holidays, MedSpring always has a doctor on site to treat illnesses and non-life-threatening injuries.

MedSpring has comprehensive urgent care capabilities with lab and X-ray services at the center. The clinical teams treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries, from cuts, sprains and broken bones to coughs, allergies and infections.

In addition to providing excellent medical care, the MedSpring team strives to create a great experience for patients. Amenities for patients and guests include free snacks and beverages, in-room TV, Wi-Fi and coloring tables for kids.

“Our physicians and support staff understand how important it is to deliver quality care in a safe and comfortable setting,” said Dr. Jon Belsher, MedSpring’s chief medical officer. “From the minute someone walks through our door, we are focused making sure they receive great care and have as good an experience as possible.”

In addition to exceptional care and service, patients can save hundreds of dollars at MedSpring compared to a hospital or free-standing emergency room. Co-pays vary by insurance plan, but the typical urgent care co-pay is $35-$50, compared to $100-$200 for the ER. In addition, the urgent care co-pay usually covers everything. The ER co-pay typically covers only the facility, with patients receiving separate bills from the physicians and others later.

MedSpring opened its first center in Austin, Texas, in August 2011, and has since opened two additional centers in the Austin area. MedSpring has announced plans to open four additional centers – two in Houston and two in Austin – over the coming months.
