Six like-minded individuals, including Think Big Partners’ Blake Miller, have launched GetWished.com during StartupBus.

Six individuals from far-reaching states have come together to form a startup known as GetWished.com on Startup Bus, a roadtrip-meets-hackathon, headed to SXSW.

StartupBus is an invitation-only community of hackers, hustlers and hipsters passionate about startups. During a 72-hour period, StartupBus travels at 60 miles per hour toward Austin for SXSW. Along the way, the StartupBus community participates in a hackathon, where “Buspreneurs” (bus + entrepreneur) ideate and launch a new startup company.

This year, ten busses full of entrepreneurs, hackers, and designers leaving from different cities including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and others, have set out to form a total of 57 internet or app-based startup companies. With the exception of milestones, there are few rules. Teams must complete the week with a functional prototype, a business plan and show that they have the ability to gain traction in their respective industry.

Originating on the Las Vegas StartupBus, GetWished.com has emerged as an early favorite to take this year’s winning title.

“We think the gifting process is broken,” said Jesse Ditson, a 25-year-old self-described “hacker wizard” from San Francisco. “If you look across the web, you have all of these companies that allow you to create an online registry or add a product to a wish list. But how do you communicate your wishes with your friends?”

GetWished.com enables a user to cultivate a list of “wishes” from anywhere on the web. GetWished.com also allows a user to assign that wish to a list and easily share it with family and friends.

“The explosive growth of Pinterest has revealed an almost primal human need to gather visually stimulating things and share them with others,” said Blake Miller, an entrepreneur and partner at Think Big Partners from Kansas City, Missouri. “But converting that into actionable intelligence has been tricky. We believe we've cracked it with GetWished.”

GetWished is set to pitch to a group of seasoned entrepreneurs and venture capitalists at the semi-finals of StartupBus on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center. If all goes well they will move onto the finals Sunday.

GetWished.com is currently accepting Beta invite requests in anticipation of its official launch on the morning of March 10, 2012 on their website http://www.GetWished.com.
