Family travel to Costa Rica and Belize is easier and more affordable than traditional nature touring without sacrificing the fun.

JOURNEYS INTERNATONAL announces a new concept in family vacations, Rainforest Adventure for Families in Costa Rica and Mayan Adventure for Families in Belize. Each activity-packed week-long program offers the advantages of an all-inclusive resort, the comfort and intimacy of a deluxe nature lodge, the fun of summer camp, and up-close, hands-on learning experiences. This is eco-tourism for the whole family.

“The accommodations are comfortable, the plan is flexible, the learning is non-stop and the agenda is FUN,” said Joan Weber, Director of JOURNEYS INTERNATIONAL. “We are excited to offer family travel to Costa Rica and Belize more easily and more affordably than nature touring, with the same energy, staffing, professionalism and personal attention that has built our reputation over thirty years.” Weber received Conde Nast recognition as Top Travel Specialist for Multi-Generational Travel for eight consecutive years. JOURNEYS INTERNATIONAL offers custom and small-group nature, culture and adventure travel in 60 countries.

During the Costa Rica and Belize adventure weeks, family members ages 4-84 can choose from a wide range of daily activities including searching for tropical birds, frogs, bats and monkeys, visiting a pineapple plantation, riding horses, playing soccer with local schoolchildren, exploring Mayan ruins and caves, and learning local crafts, cooking, and songs. Thrill-seekers can go whitewater rafting and zip-lining over the rainforest canopy.

The Costa Rica family camp is based at La Quinta Country Inn, part of the homestead and farm of the Gamez-Jenkins family in the fertile Sarapiqui region near Braulio Carillo National Park. The Belize adventure is based at Cohune Palms River Cabanas, a lush family-friendly lodge in Cayo District. Guest rooms are lovely and private. Swimming and tubing are footsteps away. Enrollment is limited to 5-7 families per session.

Parents or grandparents are welcome with one child or the extended family. The JOURNEYS Costa Rica Rain Forest Adventure for Families runs from June 30-July 6, 2012. Belize Mayan Adventure for Families runs from July 7-13, 2012. Winter dates available also. Costs range from $975-$2175 depending on ages and rooming configurations.
