The new look comes after months of planning. Among the highlights are a wider format and a matte cover stock. Inside the magazine, readers will find new layouts for all of their favorite articles, new column names and an overall cleaner design. Two new destination articles were introduced: “After 5,” a look at what to see and do in a city when the workday is done; and “9–5,” a guide to the best places to stay, entertain clients, dine and more in cities around the globe. The GT Tested reviews now feature an easy-to-read checklist of hotel and flight amenities.
“We wanted GT to have a great new look for 2012,” said Tracey Cullen, art director, Global Traveler. “With a wider size, we were able to utilize white space in the layout to make the photos stand out. The cleaner look removed URLs from within articles, placing them in an easy-to-access sidebar. The matte finish gives GT a more distinguished look.”
