mPortal Inc., a global leader in connected device experiences across mobile, tablet and connected TV platforms, will be demonstrating its SPRINGBOARD platform at the CableLabs Winter Conference, March 11-13, 2012 at the Philadelphia Marriott. mPortal’s SPRINGBOARD platform consists of a product suite that enables cable companies to add value to their core video, data, and voice services by establishing a more prominent presence on mobile and connected devices, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction and improving customer retention.

The CableLabs Winter Conference is one of the member-based events staged by Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs), the non-profit research and development consortium for cable system operators. Open only to CableLabs members and demonstrating vendors, this event is designed to provide information on the latest technologies and their supporting business and strategy objectives, as well as serve as a networking forum.

“As cable operators increasingly see their core services being threatened by new market entrants, they face a more critical and immediate need to further differentiate their services,” said D.P. Venkatesh, founder and chief executive officer of mPortal. “SPRINGBOARD enables operators to overcome this problem by expanding their presence on connected devices, such as tablets, mobile phones and connected TVs and creating an experience that transcends the set-top box. This is why we’re thrilled to demonstrate at the CableLabs Winter Conference.”

SPRINGBOARD is a cloud-based platform that enables the discovery and delivery of mobile content and applications across a variety of operating systems on connected devices. Using SPRINGBOARD, cable companies can offer their customers applications that allow access to all their services – ranging from video, voice or over-the-top services to portal offerings, customer care and account management – anywhere, anytime on any device.

mPortal’s SPRINGBOARD product suite includes three key products for cable operators:

  •     SPRINGBOARD Media is an easily deployed app solution that helps cable companies accelerate their TV Everywhere initiatives and deliver feature-rich video experiences to authenticated subscribers across phones, tablets, gaming and other connected devices. The product can quickly deliver compelling and engaging user experiences across a diverging set of devices while consistently maintaining the operators’ brand and identity.
  •     SPRINGBOARD Hub is a PCI-compliant solution that integrates into operators’ authentication and billing systems allowing subscribers to view and manage their current services and subscriptions, including making secure payments. Additionally, SPRINGBOARD Hub enables cable operators to launch new services and applications without modifying the user experience.
  •     SPRINGBOARD Metrics is a privacy compliant solution that collects data directly from a mobile device or application in real time and provides the insight that operators need to drive business decisions. For example, cable operators can analyze where, when, and how mobile devices utilize Wi-Fi networks in the course of normal subscriber activity in order to refine their Wi-Fi strategies.

mPortal currently provides products and services to three of the top five U.S. cable operators.
