Edgeware’s Convoy VDN has been shortlisted for the Society for Broadband Professionals’ (SCTE) 2012 Technology Innovation Awards

Edgeware, the technology leader in distributed video delivery, today announces its video distribution system, Convoy Video Delivery Network (VDN), has been named as a finalist for the Society for Broadband Professionals’ (SCTE) 2012 Technology Innovation Awards. Edgeware’s Convoy VDN is one of three solutions named as a finalist for the ‘Best broadband network transmission solution’ category.

Deployed in some of the world’s largest operator-based video CDN installations, Convoy VDN is a unique solution that allows operators to quickly and easily implement, manage, control and monetize video content across their networks. Edgeware makes it simple for operators to implement advanced video services to subscribers, ensuring the highest possible Quality of Experience, while providing integrated wholesale CDN video delivery and management capabilities. Edgeware’s architecture reduces the complexity, overhead and cost of both retail and wholesale video delivery for operators while bringing new revenue opportunities to dramatically accelerate the return on investment (ROI).

“Edgeware has a proven record of delivering the most scalable, flexible and cost-effective video distribution methods,” said Joachim Roos, CEO of Edgeware. “Being named one of the finalists for the SCTE awards continues to validate that our distributed video delivery solutions are ideal for operators to monetize video services.”

The SCTE 2012 Technology Innovation Awards, open to the entire broadband industry, acknowledges technological innovation in the broadband arena and may be for a product, system or concept. The best overall submission will receive the SCTE 2012 Technological Innovation of the Year Award. The winners will be announced at its annual Gala Dinner on Saturday, March 17, in Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire.

Founded in 1945, the SCTE is a Learned Society and non-profit making organization whose aim is to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals in the field.
