Waratah-Wynyard Council is situated in the heart of Tasmania's beautiful North West and includes the coastal towns and villages of Wynyard, Somerset, Boat Harbour and Sisters Beach, the rural town of Yolla and the former mining towns of Waratah and Corinna.
In line with several of Waratah-Wynyard Council’s core values including good governance, responsiveness, service excellence and continuous improvement, the Council commenced a project in late 2011 to significantly enhance its information management processes.
When accessing Information Management software solutions, the Council needed to ensure that the chosen system not only met the comprehensive functional requirements but that it was easy for end users to pick up and use. Waratah-Wynyard Council has had a long term relationship with Knowledgeone Corporation and the decision to upgrade to RecFind 6 rather than adopt another solution like TechnologyOne’s ECM or HP’s TRIM was based on the cost effectiveness and flexibility of RecFind 6 to meet the Council’s needs and provided the best value for the Council.

The initial phase of the project encompassed rolling out a core electronic document & records management solution (EDRMS), involving the capture and management of e-mail, web sites, scanned documents, office documents and where appropriate, hard copy records.
In addition, a Human Resource (HR) Information Management System has been implemented. The RecFind 6 HR System allows the Council to manage an up-to-date and searchable database of employee information. It also facilitates common HR processes such as recruitment, performance management, leave management, learning and development and a host of other HR related activities common to any organization including mentoring, coaching, job rotation, succession planning, fast track selection, etc.
Subsequent phases will consider expanding RecFind 6 to also cover Asset Management and Customer Request Management systems.
