February 2012 saw a record high of registrations for 'fitness' companies, according to company formation experts Duport Associates.
In data from the official register at Companies House and compiled by Duport Associates Ltd, the number of companies formed with the term 'fitness' in their name rocketed to a new high of 77 in February 2012.
"With obesity a growing concern and the average UK waistline rising year upon year, it's good to know that small businesses are doing their part to help keep Britain healthy," stated Peter Valaitis, managing director of Duport Associates.
The news of the rise in company formations for fitness firms comes at the same time as Northern Ireland's Health Minister, Edwin Poots announces that obesity can cut the average life expectancy by nine years.
