Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) March 12, 2012
Motion is Medicine™, a motivational workshop that inspires people to get healthy through exercise, today announced the 1st Annual Motion is Medicine Expo, which will feature high profile speakers, booths, exhibits and demonstrations on how people of all ages can become more active and healthy. With a percentage of the proceeds going to the Scleroderma Foundation Nevada Chapter, the expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The Motion is Medicine Expo will share hundreds of exciting ways that people can live happier, more active lives. The goal of the expo is to make physical activity fun by exposing individuals to activities that they enjoy and which they will want to keep doing.
After bringing the “Motion is Medicine” message to the Scleroderma Foundation Nevada Chapter and seeing how encouraged the people suffering from this devastating disease felt when they learned of activities that might help reduce their pain, it became clear that the Scleroderma Foundation fit perfectly with Motion is Medicine's mission to bring healing through movement.
“I have never felt more passion for such a worthy cause,” says Motion is Medicine Director Carol Ann Weber. “With the proceeds, we will not only create more public awareness of Scleroderma, but might finally be on the way to finding a cure.”
An auto-immune disease that causes a range of maladies from hardening of the skin to hardening of the internal organs to the inability to swallow, Scleroderma can manifest in diverse and individualized symptoms from mild to potentially life threatening and has affected more than 300,000 people of all races, with 80 percent of those being women. Attendees of the expo can help the Scleroderma Foundation Nevada Chapter fulfill its mission to create awareness and continue its quest for a cure simply by attending.
