Akira is known prominently in the fashion scene in Chicago. They opened the doors to their first store less than a decade ago. In that time, they have successfully branched out with 18 city-wide locations and ShopAKIRA.com for online shoppers. They offer a full range of clothing and accessories for men and women.

Akira is now partnering with Diamond Nexus on their 3rd annual spring fashion show, held at the Lyric Opera House, located at 20 North Wacker Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The Fashion Show begins at 7 p.m.

The new partnership comes after a highly successful contest that the two companies co-sponsored to win a Makeover with Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella. The winner spent the day with Miss USA, and was able to choose an outfit from Akira, jewelry from Diamond Nexus, as well as hair by Tricoci and makeup by Sephora.

“We are really excited to be a part of the 2012 Valley of the Castles Fashion show with Akira. Our special guests, Miss Teen USA and Miss Illinois will be joining us as well and signing autographs for their fans. This is truly going to be a star-studded event,” said Kyle Blades, Director of Marketing.

“We are also going to be featuring a designer from Diamond Nexus, creating examples of custom made jewelry for attendees. The sky is the limit with the Nexus Design Studio and we feel that this event is the perfect opportunity to illustrate just what can be made with our custom jewelry department. After all, what woman doesn’t want a one of a kind piece of jewelry?” continued Blades.

Diamond Nexus was founded in 2004 with the purpose of bringing to the public the powerful benefits of the lab-created diamond simulant revolution. They have over 250,000 customers worldwide that have awarded them an "A+" rating with the BBB, and are the ninth largest online jewelry retailer in America according to the 2011 IR500 list. For two years in a row brides from The Knot have selected them as their Best of Jeweler. Diamond Nexus currently has two retail locations: their flagship store at Woodfield Mall in suburban Chicago, Illinois, and a second store at Mayfair Mall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2009 the company was named the official jeweler and crown maker of the Miss Universe Organization as part of NBC/Universal’s “Green is Universal” environmental initiative.
