Philadelphia, Pa. (PRWEB) March 14, 2012
The Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware Minority Supplier Development Council (PA-NJ-DE MSDC) today announced that Maggie Anderson, CEO and Co-Founder of The Empowerment Experiment Foundation (EE) will give the keynote address at the PA-NJ-DE MSDC Quarterly General Meeting, March 15, 2012, at the Downtown Marriott, Philadelphia, PA, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Maggie Anderson and her husband, John, dedicated an entire year to only “buying black” merchandise and services. They documented the challenges they faced in a book, Our Black Year, published last month. Anderson has since become the leader of a movement that supports quality minority business development and mainstream companies with substantive supplier diversity programs. She has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and CBS Morning News, among many other national television and radio shows. Anderson will host a book signing immediately following the meeting.
“Maggie’s message speaks to the value of supplier diversity for all minority business entrepreneurs and the corporations who partner with them,” said Wade Colclough, president and CEO of the PA-NJ-DE MSDC. “Supplier diversity helps our region grow, and procurement engagement allows MBEs to hire citizens from the communities in which they do business,” he added.
The general meeting is an opportunity for corporations dedicated to procurement supplier diversity to network and to meet influential and successful minority business enterprise (MBE) executives. This meeting will also feature a “Best-In-Class” panel discussion on supplier diversity best practices moderated by the region’s renowned Gary Shepherd, president/CEO, 3rd Floor Media and past radio show host . Panelists will include PA-NJ-DE MSDC Choice Awards winners: GlaxoSmithKline - National Corporation of the Year (Yvette Dukes, Manager, Supplier Diversity); Communications Test Design Inc. - Regional Supplier of the Year (George Ehrgott, Manager, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Diversity); G&C Environmental Services Inc. - Supplier of the Year - Class I (Curtis Conner, Vice President); Améredia Inc. - Supplier of the Year Class II (Pawan Mehra, EVP); Deluxe Delivery Systems, Inc. - Supplier of the Year - Class III (Ryan Ramnarayan, President); Thompson Hospitality - Supplier of the Year - Class IV (Benita Thompson Byas, Sr. VP of Joint Ventures, Vice Chairman); and RCI Technologies Inc. - Advocate of the Year (Carrie Hrustic, Account Manager).
