Daily deal company PulseTV announced entering into marketing arrangements with several daily deal sites. A partial list of competitors turned compatriots includes: Tippr, Travel Deal Network, MooLaLa, Deal Ticker, KGB, Deal Radar, Daily Catch, Daily Update and Spreebird.
CEO, Jaffer Ali said, “We have been sending out our Deal-of-the-Day emails selling products since 2007. We source products from over 120 vendors and do all of our own fulfillment. The reason these companies are coming to us is that we make their lives easy. We do real customer service and if the industry is honest, it will acknowledge that customer service has lagged way behind marketing efforts. We place customer service and fulfillment at the head of the class and not an afterthought.”
These co-marketing arrangements with companies that could be considered competitors started by working with daily deal site KGB and has now expanded to become the fastest growing revenue stream for the south suburban, Chicago company. General manager, and Jaffer’s sister, Anisa Ali remarked, “I think that many in this space understand that selling products is an entirely new business and presents different challenges than selling restaurant coupons. We test 500 products a year to find the one in ten that really excels. Working with other daily deal sites works for them in that the products are already tested and we gain by increased distribution. Truly a win-win.”
PulseTV acknowledged that not every daily deal competitor is a perfect fit. Jaffer added, “We have been approached by a couple of sites that wanted to place restrictions on us remarketing to the buyers. That would be akin to restaurant owners not being allowed to do repeat business with coupon redeemers. We walk away from those deals. It takes a lot of effort to do what we do. We owned a fulfillment house for many years and have been doing it for over twenty years. We sold that company over ten years ago and now only do fulfillment for our own business. We understand the value of what we do and those few daily deal sites may come around. This is all so new.”
