Diane Gerard bares her heart and soul in the pages of “Poetry From A Creative Mind”. This collection of more than 80 poetic pieces will immerse readers in a world where words breathe life and burn with passion.

Gerard’s work captures emotions and musings that have been distilled at their most quintessential and powerful form. As the author would put it, “Poetry is my way of expressing my feelings about the world around me. Instead of writing in a journal, I prefer to write free verse to express my feelings in words, rather than yell or hit someone. Other times, I write poems to remember important people, animals, observations, and events in my life.”

Gerard uses a fine brushwork of words which will easily evoke visceral sensations whilst the interspersion of photographs further makes the reading experience vivid. Her subjects are reflective of the beauty and color of her own life. “Poetry From A Creative Mind” will tug at heartstrings and feed the soul.

This book will be featured at this year’s Pennsylvania School Library Association Book Exhibit in Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 12 - 14, 2012. For more information, log on to http://www.Xlibris.com.

About the Author
I started writing poetry before 1990 but only saved two of them. I didn't return to writing poetry until 2010 when I saw a bird fall off the side of a building. I wrote a short poem memorializing the event ("Last day of the bird").

After that poem, I wrote poetry describing pictures I took ("Puppies on display") and dreams ("Family home") and events ("Corporate Challenge") I experienced. I took a poetry class and wrote more poetry using pictures I took and pictures I found on the Internet. My teacher liked my poetry and I received an A for the class.

Poetry allows me to express my feelings without the need of everything required in writing a novel or short story. Poetry can be like a short story or it can be a theme without character development, plot line, conflict or resolution. It can be viewed as a verbal photograph.
