While many of us grew up with an incomplete Jewish education, we can take steps as adults to bolster our identity and knowledge. Making a Siyum (a completion) on a text is a great step in that direction.

Partners in Torah, the organization that pioneered a unique, free phone study program, announced today a special deal on tickets for MySiyum.com registrants to the Siyum HaShas. Scheduled for August 1st, 2012, this spectacular event is expected to be the largest celebration of Jewish learning in American history. Approximately 100,000 Jews from across the world will gather at the Siyum HaShas to celebrate the completion of a seven and a half year cycle of Jewish learning through which participants learn all 2,711 pages of the Babylonian Talmud.

Interested parties may sign-up on MySiyum.com to finish a learning project of their own, and receive $10 back on each $54 ticket they purchase to the Siyum HaShas.

Partners in Torah will also provide a free, phone-based tutor to those registrants who would like help in completing their learning project. These discounted tickets offer a fantastic way to encourage attendance from all parts of the Jewish community to the Siyum HaShas.

Typically, the event is attended by members of the Orthodox communities who have completed the Talmudic learning cycle. To broaden and expand participation, Partners in Torah launched a new site MySiyum.com to encourage Jewish learning. An important goal of MySiyum.com is to bring Jews from different backgrounds together, in person, at this summer’s Siyum HaShas. The website offers visitors the ability to purchase tickets, get information on participation, and view an inspirational video about the program. Interested people can be paired with a learning partner so that they can study a topic of interest to them, and join the other participants at the historical event. “While many of us grew up with an incomplete Jewish education, we can take steps as adults to bolster our identity and knowledge. Making a Siyum (a completion) on a text is a great step in that direction,” noted Rabbi Eli Gewirtz, the National Director of Partners in Torah.

Tickets for the event went on sale on February 15th and Agudath Israel of America, the event sponsor, will process all Siyum ticket orders on a first-come, first-served basis until the seating is sold out. As of today, all $18 tickets have already been sold out. Remaining seats are priced at $54-$1000, and are still available on MySiyum.com.

The quick sale of the tickets is no surprise to Siyum HaShas organizers. The Siyum HaShas has grown exponentially since the first gathering in 1923. Each of the last five Siyum HaShas events has had more than twice the number of participants as the one before, and all five of those have been sold out. The Siyum HaShas slated to take place on August 1, 2012 is expected to fill the entire MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey.
