Red Oak Realty, the East Bay’s leading-edge residential brokerage, today announced that REALTOR® Arlene Baxter has joined the company. Baxter is among the most experienced and sophisticated agents in the greater Berkeley area.

Baxter is a stellar addition to the brokerage. As a Certified Residential Specialist® (CRS®) with 16 years of professional experience, she has sold over $100 million in residential real estate. Every year the average sales prices of her listings exceed the average listing price.

"I am impressed by the significant changes Red Oak Realty has made over the past few years,” said Baxter. “Their new leadership team has developed first-rate marketing materials and systems, in print and especially online. Already I've appreciated the responsiveness of their very experienced staff, and know that support will benefit my clients.”

As a specialist in vintage homes, she has written articles for Old House Interiors and Style 1900, and is the proud owner of a Berkeley landmark designed by Julia Morgan. Baxter covers the Arts & Crafts style of architecture extensively on her website While well-grounded in local and architectural history, she has also passionately adapted new technology, exploring video, blogging, and a strong online presence to optimize the experience for her buyers and sellers.

“I appreciate Red Oak’s ‘seriously local’ approach to real estate. It’s a good match for my long history in, and passion for, East Bay neighborhoods and resources,” said Baxter.

“We are excited about Arlene joining the team,” said Vanessa Bergmark, a Partner at Red Oak. “Her passion for Arts and Crafts and her deep engagement in the community make her a great fit for the company.”

Improving the visibility and importance of green building practices has been of great importance to Baxter. She is one of the four agents nationwide who assisted in the formation of the GREEN designation of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), and founded a Green Council at the Berkeley Association of REALTORS® (BAR). Her dedication to the environment ranks high among the reasons Baxter joined Red Oak: the company shares her concern for sustainable business practices, and is a certified Green business.

Ms. Baxter has played key roles in multiple industry organizations, having served in all officer positions with the BAR, including President; was a Director for the California Association of REALTORS® from 2006 to 2009; and was President of the East Bay Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS® in 2011.

Baxter is based in Red Oak’s office at 1891 Solano Avenue in Berkeley. She may be reached at EastBay(dot)Bungalows(at)gmail(dot)com.

Red Oak Realty was founded in 1976 and remains one of the largest and most prominent independent real estate brokerages in the East Bay. With over 75 active agents, Red Oak sold over $200 million in residential real estate in 2011. A greater percentage of Red Oak listings sell, and sell faster, than the other largest brokers in the area.
