“We are committed to adding features which improve the day-to-day lives of Cognos administrators, modelers and power users,” said Matt Thibeau, MotioPI Product Manager.

MotioPI and MotioPI Professional are designed to ease the burdens of IBM Cognos administrators by providing them greater insight into the content and configuration of their Cognos environments and automating otherwise tedious or error prone tasks.

The 2.6 release adds several new features to the growing array of capabilities in MotioPI and MotioPI Professional. “We are committed to adding features which improve the day-to-day lives of Cognos administrators, modelers and power users,” said Matt Thibeau, MotioPI Product Manager.

“One of the highlights of the 2.6 release is the ability to refactor Cognos Framework Manager Models and then apply the changes to their associated reports, queries and analyses in the Content Store. This feature alone can save Cognos development teams countless hours each month.”

Other highlights of the 2.6 release include the new User Preferences panel, which allows Cognos administrators to manage the preferences of entire groups of users en masse. This includes preferences such as home pages, styles, default report formats, portal tabs, etc.

Also new in 2.6 is support for bulk administration of Cognos group / role memberships. Using MotioPI Professional, administrators can quickly assign group and role membership to hundreds of Cognos users.

Several MotioPI panels which deal with users have been improved to allow the selection of a set of users from one or more Cognos groups or roles (apply the operation to all users which belong to that group or role).

The 2.6 release also includes various improvements to many of the existing panels, for example, the Property Distributor panel now allows Cognos administrators to mass update multiple property values across heterogeneous sets of object types (e.g. blast a common set of property values across reports, queries and schedules).    Improvements have also been made to the Search and Replace panel, which now supports the usage of regular expressions and boasts an improved user experience which better facilitates the search and replace of multiple expressions in one pass.

“With every new product release, we’re aiming to help our customers get the most out of their IBM Cognos investment,” said Lance Hankins, CTO of Motio. “We are passionate about building products which help Cognos teams work smarter and faster.”
