WellStep Atlanta, an outpatient alcohol treatment and drug addiction treatment center in Roswell, Georgia announces its "First Step" alcohol and drug addiction evaluation program, designed to help individuals learn more about their conditions and provide guidance on the best treatment options.

WellStep Atlanta, an outpatient, specialty alcohol treatment and drug addiction medical practice located in Roswell, Georgia, announces its new “First Step” evaluation program. A special confidential initial evaluation visit has been designed to help individuals who think they may have a problem with drugs or alcohol to learn more about their conditions and provide guidance on the best treatment options. Adults and older adolescents (16 and above) are evaluated by a board certified addiction medicine physician in a comfortable, pleasant office setting. Recommendations are then made as to treatment choices including counseling, outpatient medical treatment and/or detox, as well as inpatient treatment programs. Individuals may also obtain further consultation with our affiliated certified interventionist who maintains detailed, up to date information on local and national treatment programs. In its alcohol treatment program,FDA-approved medications for alcohol cravings including acamprosate (Campral) and naltrexone (Vivitrol) may be prescribed in appropriate cases. For opiate (pain pill and heroin ) dependence, buprenorphine (Suboxone and Subutex) may be recommended.

Mark S. Banov, MD, MPH, FACPM , a board certified addiction medicine specialist, is Medical Director of WellStep. Dr. Banov graduated from the Harvard School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins University. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Along with his addiction medicine practice, Dr. Banov is involved in several ongoing FDA-regulated research studies evaluating new treatments for addictions and other behavioral conditions.
