Basalt, Colorado (PRWEB) March 15, 2012
Now through March 31, two leaves and a bud tea company™ will dedicate a portion of sales at select Whole Foods Market locations to nonprofit Whole Planet Foundation to fund poverty alleviation efforts worldwide. The company’s contribution will support the foundation’s mission to provide the working poor in developing countries with a chance to lift themselves out of poverty through microcredit.
“Two leaves and a bud™ sources tea around the world from small, enterprising organic tea gardens,” says two leaves Founder and CEO Richard Rosenfeld. “In our travels, we see the difference supporting business in impoverished communities can make in people’s lives and Whole Planet Foundation recognizes that impact too.”
By funding microlending projects around the world, the foundation is providing the poorest of the poor with that same opportunity to launch or expand their own home-based businesses and create a better future for themselves and their families through their own hard work. “We want to be a part of that,” explains Rosenfeld.
Boxes of two leaves and a bud™ tea will be available at discounted prices in select Whole Foods Market stores through March 31. A portion of all sales will benefit the microlending program.
“Every time someone buys a box of our tea at the discounted price, the money they save will go directly to help poor entrepreneurs. That’s because Whole Foods Market funds all of Whole Planet Foundation’s administrative costs,” Rosenfeld says. “We really appreciate that.”
In 2005, natural and organic retailer Whole Foods Market established Whole Planet Foundation as an expansion of its mission to be an active participant in the global community. The nonprofit provides grants to microfinance institutions in poor communities where the grocer sources products. To date, Whole Planet Foundation has authorized more than $26.5 million and disbursed more than $15.5 million through microlending partners worldwide. About two leaves and a bud™
Two leaves and a bud tea company™ is based in Basalt, Colo., and specializes in whole leaf, organic tea packed in biodegradable, pyramid-shaped tea sachets. The company was founded in 2005 by Richard Rosenfeld, an entrepreneur who traveled the world for business, only to become frustrated at not finding a quality cuppa’ tea at home. Two leaves and a bud™ travels to the world's premier tea growing regions to meet farmers and taste tea in its purest, native form. The company’s commitment to "go there" allows it to bring the experience of the gardens back to its customers by providing exceptional whole leaf tea from only the best harvests.
