"The Hunger Games," perhaps the year's most anticipated film, had its premiere at Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live, located just steps from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s Los Angeles campus. Actress and professional stuntwoman Tara Macken, who plays the District 4 Tribute Girl in the film, chose a black silk bias gown with lace insets by designer and FIDM graduate Kevan Hall.
Macken; who has been seen in films such as "Spy Kids 4," "Battleship" and "The Lincoln Lawyer," and on the small screen on shows such as "Hawaii 5-0," "Glee" and "Community"; looked like an old Hollywood star complete with an elegant train, pewter Lauren Merkin clutch and Forevermark diamond earrings. “I am just so excited to be here because I haven’t seen the final edit of the movie,” she told E! “I got to act in a movie where I got to beat up people. I’m kind of a ninja.”
Kevan Hall, who is known for creating glamorous gowns, is a regular on the red carpet. His clients have included Tina Fey, Felicity Huffman, Jaime Pressly, Vivica A. Fox, Virginia Madsen, Debra Messing, and Garcelle Beauvais, among others. In addition to his ready-to-wear and custom designs, the L.A.-based designer also creates a bridal collection.
