Cherry Hill, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 17, 2012
Major League Baseball Executive and inspiration for the Oscar-nominated film “Moneyball” – Billy Beane – is the keynote speaker at the AmeriQuest Transportation Industry Symposium, April 12-13 in Orlando. The event is a gathering of top transportation industry executives presented by AmeriQuest Transportation Services, provider of fleet management services.
Considered one of the most progressive and talented baseball executives in the game today, Beane has molded the Oakland Athletics into a perennial postseason contender since assuming his general manager duties following the 1997 season. His executive talents and the organization’s baseball philosophy were the subject of the best-selling book “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game” and the movie “Moneyball” with actor Brad Pitt portraying Beane.
Both book and film opened the eyes of many of the top sports and business executives in the country. He regularly addresses major companies on his management approach of identifying and using undervalued assets to create and sustain a competitive edge. Currently he sits on the board of directors of several companies, including Bell-Easton Sports, ProTrade, and NetSuite.
Beane was named "The Sporting News"’ Executive of the Year in 1999 and earned MLB’s Executive of the Year honors by "Baseball America" magazine in 2002. He was named on "Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal"’s “40 Under 40” list, honoring the nation’s top 40 sports executives under the age of 40 in 2001. In 2011, he also collaborated with Rep. Newt Gingrich and Sen. John Kerry on co-authoring an article in the "New York Times" offering possible remedies for the health care crisis.
Beane will address top executives from North American private fleet, truck leasing, truckload carrier, and transportation supply chain companies. In addition to Beane, a number of other speakers are on the agenda, including former Florida Governor Jeb Bush; Gary Petty, President and CEO of the National Private Truck Council; and innovation expert Robert Tucker.
The event takes place at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes. More information is posted on the AmeriQuest Website: http://www.ameriquestcorp.com. For more information, contact Kate Barnes at kbarnes(at)ameriquestcorp(dot)com or at 856-382-4701.
