Wolsey are proud to launch the Spring Summer 2012 Collection taking its inspiration from its rich archive.

Wolsey's Spring Summer Collection

For over 250 years, Wolsey has clothed some of Britain’s bravest and most inspirational men: explorers, soldiers, pioneers and royalty. Today Wolsey continues to craft exceptional clothing for men of exploration and adventure. Inspired by its unrivalled history, Wolsey’s Spring / Summer 2012 collection is a contemporary range influenced by iconic menswear classics.

Wolsey’s collection is predominantly utility inspired and detail focused, with its premium Wolsey 1755 labeled pieces offering soft tailoring and sharp contemporary apparel options. Both elements draw on Wolsey’s extensive archive, in particularly drawing on references from its military associations and its early sportswear designs. Adventures and travels in warmer climes are a strong influence, the collection featuring washed and dyed cotton pieces in khaki, earth browns and sandy hues. Key pieces include woven sleeveless cardigans as well as accessories such as canvas rucksacks and leather doctor’s bags.

A nod to Wolsey’s sportwear heritage, the range also includes re-imagined vintage sports clothing. Rugby jerseys influenced from the field are teamed with blazers inspired by the pavilion, and are available in a rich palette of plums, aged cricket whites and teal blues.

A relaxed element has been introduced to the collection through a range of polo shirts in soft classic colours, shirts in oxford weaves, unconstructed jackets and fine cotton knits. Within the range, the premium Wolsey 1755 offer is influenced by a naval/tailored style. Menswear classics are updated, such as a spring version of the iconic duffel coat in heavy linen, a lighter linen casual tuxedo and a Harrington jacket given a contemporary makeover.

Other garments are given a utilitarian edge, including a pack-away hooded jacket and padded gilets. The stand out piece is a navy double-breasted blazer with brass buttons, a slim silhouette which can be perfectly paired with tapered leg trousers. Skillfully led by Creative Director Richard Bengtsson and motivated by an incredible archive, Wolsey has re-invented British classics to craft a stand out collection, distinguishing it as a genuinely contemporary British clothing brand.
