The CFSA (Council of Food Service Associations) will be hosted their 32nd annual awards dinner in mid February at the Diamond Hawk Golf Club in Cheektowaga, NY. The CFSA is a collective of food service associations in New York that recognizes members once a year for excellence and commitment to their industry. This year’s gold medal was awarded to the Bedard family and Buffalo Hotel Supply for their continued support and quality service to the organizations within the CFSA.
The CFSA is comprised of seven food service industry organizations including:
- Western New York Dietetic Association
- International Food Service Executives Association
- American Culinary Federation of Greater Buffalo
- New York State Restaurant Association
- Erie County School Nutrition Association
- WNY Society for Health Care Food Service Administrators
- New York Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America
Founded in Buffalo in 1983, the association’s aim is to enhance and cultivate the exchange of ideas and services between the existing food service organizations. Every year at their awards dinner each individual organization awards a silver medal to one of their members for recognition to the entire CFSA body. Also, the CFSA as a whole, awards a gold medal to one member for showing commitment to the organization, and excellence in all facets of the food service industry. The recipient of this award must be approved by their peers in all seven of the CFSA’s branches.
This year’s highest honors was bestowed upon the Bedard family, who for three generations has run Buffalo Hotel Supply, a company that specializes in selling and installing kitchen and dining room equipment for commercial facilities ranging from small pizzerias to Fortune 500 companies. The Bedard family and Buffalo Hotel Supply’s commitment to the CFSA organization has led to their work on many diverse facilities, with exceptional testimonials from clients.
Past recipients of the award included many well-known area restaurateurs including Russell Salvatore, and the Illio DiPaolo family, and well as notable food service greats such as Dennis Ayers and Edgar DeGasper.
