In this incidence, awareness is key. One needs to be aware of the signs and symptoms of a stroke and react accordingly. These numbers show that people need to pay closer attention to what their body is telling them.

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, has commented on a recent study that says stroke victims are still not calling 911.

Recent research by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has found that the number of stroke victims transported by ambulance has remained about the same over the years, which appears to justify the need for more education about stroke symptoms and the importance of early intervention

The study was based on 1,605 cases and the study found that just 51 percent of adults diagnosed with stroke in emergency rooms nationwide arrived by ambulance, which means virtually no change over the 11-years in question.

Jim Chiang, CEO of Bel Marra Health understands the importance of the research, “in this incidence, awareness is key. One needs to be aware of the signs and symptoms of a stroke and react accordingly. These numbers show that people need to pay closer attention to what their body is telling them.”

Dr. Victor Marchione, an Expert in Pulmonary Medicine echoed Chiang’s opinion adding, “We have many surgeries available that can minimize brain damage from a stroke, but they can only be used only within a few hours of a stroke. This is where it becomes so important for stroke victims to be able to recognize the symptoms of a stroke right away.”
