Even though I’ve been training people for over 20 years because it’s my calling and passion, it’s cool to be recognized by the fitness industry with this award. This award is just a reminder to continue to over deliver service and value to my clients.
Calgary, Alberta, Canada (PRWEB) March 20, 2012
Each year, less than 1% of boot camp owners get this Achievement and Excellence award, which is based on client results, quality of service and the impact on the community. Shawna K and Calgary NW Fit Body Boot Camp are excited to be taking this honor home.
Award winner Shawna K says: ‘Even though I’ve been training people for over 20 years because it’s my calling and passion, it’s cool to be recognized by the fitness industry with this award. This award is just a reminder to continue to over deliver service and value to my clients.’
Shawna has a unique story as to how she stumbled upon her career in fitness. Although she was a teacher with the Roman Catholic School board for 20 years, she always managed to find time to train clients. It was at the urging of a group of friends that she started a small training studio in 2004. From there she took the leap full time into training and fitness boot camps. She took a leave of absence from her teaching career and never looked back. She knew that she was on the right path with her love of teaching and her passion for fitness.
The rest is history.
Running a successful business is very different from teaching in a classroom. Shawna says
the 'Golden Rule' applies to business: she treats her clients the way she'd like to be treated. This has lead to long term client retention and continuous referrals. It's a simple formula: her clients get results at boot camp and they stay and refer more clients. Shawna says it's 'win-win'.
Shawna describes Calgary NW Fit Body Boot Camp as a fun and energetic fitness workout program that includes, motivation, accountability and dynamic resistance training all designed to get folks the body that they want in safe, fun and non-intimidating atmosphere. Calgary NW Fit Body Boot Camp also won the Calgary Choice Award for ‘Best in Fitness in 2011’.
Shawna had a desire to help more people than those that could attend her Fit Body Boot camp so she decided to take fitness online. Currently she has several online programs to help people that can’t train with her in person. One program is ‘Female Fat Loss Over 40’. Since Shawna is in her 40’s she has a passion to help others with the same struggles. Another program she developed is called ‘Challenge Workouts’. It’s a fitness plan the ‘Pull Up Queen’, as she’s often referred to, developed to help people improve strength, specifically the quality and quantity of pull ups and push ups.
Shawna has been ‘in the trenches’ of hardcore training since she was a child. She competed nationally in three sports: competitive swimming, freestyle skiing and bodybuilding. She’s won many awards, including the coveted ‘Toughest Calgarian Alive’ as well as provincial and national titles. She continues to exemplify a fit and healthy lifestyle well into her 40's.
Shawna has several degrees from the University of Calgary and is a published author. She’s written for Shape magazine, Impact magazine, Personal Fitness Professional Magazine as well as local Suburban Journals and Uptown magazines. She’s been featured in the Calgary Herald and on Breakfast television.
If you want to find Shawna K when she isn’t training, you’ll find her hanging out with her two teenaged children and dog Desi.
