The Norigene Foundation, a newly founded U.S. agro-educational non-profit organization, held its inaugural meeting at its Trenton New Jersey headquarters on St. Patrick’s Day -- a day traditionally recognized as the start of America’s spring gardening season. Founder and President, Roselene Jean, remarked that, “While many across this nation are planting peas today to kick off the season, our group came together today to plant seeds of sustainable change that will transform Haiti into a more prosperous and sustainable society. “
Haiti needs more than just handouts of food; the people can sustain their own livelihood if given the opportunity. This is why Norigene Foundation is committed to create model educational programs and model farms that will compel more interest among the youth by introducing basic modern tools and better organization of fertile lands in the community of Thomonde.
Norigene foundation plans to build schools that cater to the environmental and agricultural understanding of the children, the will get the opportunity to visit rural farming camps, helping them appreciate animals, to show more care and love for the echo system, to plant trees and participate in the sustainable development of their communities. Our program is the first in the region of Thomonde to intervene with these agro-educational projects in a country where agriculture has lost all prestige due to extreme lack of productive capacity and education challenged by a significant lack of infrastructure.
Central to our initiative is the prospect of creating opportunities for the handicapped children to finally get a chance to go to school. Certainly, the plan to build a special education school with provisions for handicapped children will help us challenge and change a culture where such stratum is widely marginalized and neglected by the wider society and at times even by close relatives.
Norigene Foundation is here to make a difference, challenging status quo dependency with eagle eyes visionary leadership.
