By establishing the 1-800-SAVE-LIVES hotline, we hope to keep more animals alive and make it simple for people to donate to a no-kill shelter in their own community.

The Humane Society of Lakewood Ranch, Florida became the first participant this week in Tele-Name’s new campaign to establish a national hotline for no-kill animal shelters. The industry-leading phone name provider is donating 1-800-SAVE-LIVES vanity numbers at cost to any no-kill shelter in the country, with the goal of connecting one or more anti-euthanasia shelters in every county by the year’s end.

“Millions of neglected animals are euthanized every year by shelters that don’t have the resources to care for them,” says Tele-Name CEO David Ashley. “People abandon their pets knowing they’re going to be put down when there are plenty of no-kill shelters that would be happy to take the animal in and care for it until it finds a new home. By establishing the 1-800-SAVE-LIVES hotline, we hope to keep more animals alive and make it simple for people to donate to a no-kill shelter in their own community. Some “creatively named” organizations are receiving donations from well meaning individuals who believe they are donating to a shelter organization when in fact they could be giving to one that gives less than 1% to local shelters. We aim to remove that confusion from the marketplace.”

In addition to establishing the new hotline, Ashley is also running a national fundraising raffle to raise awareness about his local no-kill shelter, The Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch Florida. The raffle is open to any U.S. citizen and more than 65 prizes - all with values of $500 or more - are up for grabs, including week-long luxury resort vacations in Canada and Mexico. Tickets can be obtained on the Lakewood Ranch Humane Society website for a suggested donation of $40, with all proceeds going towards the construction of a new shelter in the Lakewood Ranch, FL area.

No-kill shelters provide a safe haven for adoptable animals in need. They believe that through and emphasis on adoption services and spay/neuter programs, it’s possible to reduce America’s out-of-control pet population without euthanizing healthy dogs and cats.
