Taking advantage of the Internet is essential in order to be in line with the current trend and latest technical and marketing advancements.

Oracle Digital, the leading Internet Marketing Company in Western Australia, has released its latest innovative SEO and online marketing service packages to help boost the sales growth of small-scale businesses, empowering them with the capacity to compete on a global scale.

Just recently, three Australian companies have bested more than 3000 businesses from United Kingdom, US, New Zealand, Canada and Australia in the Build-A-Business contest, which was sponsored by Shopify, one of the most popular e-commerce platforms in the world.

The said contest had six industry categories, namely: Food and Health, Apparel and Jewellery, Sports and Hobbies, Home and Office, Art and Photography, and Other category – where half of which have been dominated and won by Australian companies.

Among the big winners for the said event were Flockstocks.com – for the Apparel and Jewellery category; Openacase.com – for the Other category; and Myfootyboots.com.au for the Sports and Hobbies category.

Flockstocks.com, the big winner for the Apparel and Jewellery category, is a supplier of hair extensions, which has its home base in Byron Bay. The founder of the company, Sophie Kovic, explains that the success of her company was based on a study that she made when she repurposed bred rooster saddle feathers and made them into hair extensions.

According to Kovic, the saddle feathers were mainly sold in fly fishing websites – and when she decided to sell them as hair extensions in her own online store, she was surprised at the amount of support that it got from customers all over the world.

She says, "My best month this year was in excess of $100,000 turnover but this does not reflect the average turnover per month, which is much lower.” She further adds, "I had two superb months at the height of the feather craze in America which happened to be the timeframe by which the build-a-business is judged."

Opencase.com, the big winner for the Other category, is a Melbourne-based company that sells iPhone covers that have been infused with a bottle opener. Chris Peters and Rob Ward, the founders and inventors of this innovative iPhone case, share their surprise and excitement with the success of their online endeavour.

Peters says, "The business has exceeded our expectations from the very beginning.” He then adds, "It's pretty cool to think that selling a single product through an online store has enabled us to quit our jobs and concentrate full time on maximising the success of the OpenaCase. Since we opened our Shopify store, we have sold over 10,000 units to over 30 countries and sales keep on increasing."

Brad Jorgensen, owner of a Cairns-based company that focuses on football shoes and running shoes, and winner for the Sports and Hobbies category, shares that he started working with an online gaming site before launching his own site, and he believes that this is what helped him reach the success that he is enjoying now.

Jorgensen says, "I certainly give that company a lot of credit for giving me the understanding of the importance of providing great customer service/support… That's one of the major things we focus on …, as the power of word of mouth among sporting clubs/communities is very strong, and it's essential that the word of mouth is positive for business growth."

On the other hand, Harley Finkelstein, Chief Platform Officer of Shopify, explains why Australian companies were big winners of their contest. He says, "Australia also has a strong affinity for new technology, and as such, Australian web-based start-ups are particularly well positioned to thrive and succeed. Australia is the perfect breeding ground for e-commerce businesses. Period."

Clint Maher, Director of Operations of Oracle Digital, the leading SEO Company in Australia likewise shares this view.

According to Maher, “Taking advantage of the Internet is essential in order to be in line with the current trend and latest technical and marketing advancements. Today, most prospective customers use the Internet for their purchase preferences, either in search for the best gift options, restaurants, travel agencies and even spas. This is why businesses should seriously consider utilising it. Besides, with online marketing, costs are considerably less, and have a bigger potential for obtaining substantial profit for your business.”

He further adds, “To dismiss that your business does not need to move and excel online, is taking a huge risk on your financial future.”

And because of the huge opportunities that the internet brings to local businesses, Oracle Digital has decided to release their latest innovation in SEO techniques, as well as provide a more efficient set of social marketing tools, and profitable Internet Marketing strategies that essentially push online and offline businesses to maximise their full potential in the long run.
