Having been an analyst at firms such as Forrester Research and the Yankee Group, I believe that Ars Logica is unique in the hands-on aspect of its analysis. Without actually using the products, how would an analyst know anything about usability?

Ars Logica today announces the availability of 13 of its Compass Guide Reports to Web Content Management (WCM). The latest additional report coverage was the Compass Guide report on Ektron 8.5, released in January 2012. Over the next two months, the analyst firm plans to publish evaluations of the approximately 15 to 20 remaining CMS platforms with significant traction in the marketplace. “Most of the hands-on product testing, end-user interviews, and vendor-briefing work for the upcoming reports has already been done,” says Tony White, founder of the vendor-neutral advisory and consulting company.

“To my knowledge, we are the only vendor-neutral firm that combines nearly 15 years of in-depth product experience in most of the leading CMS platforms with an ongoing, hands-on product testing process,” adds White. “Having served as an analyst in the Application Development, Knowledge Management, and Content & Collaboration practices of competitive firms such as Forrester Research and the Yankee Group, I believe that Ars Logica is unique in its insistence on the hands-on aspect of its analysis. Without actually using the products, how would an analyst know anything about their usability?”

In addition to evaluating enterprise WCM platforms, Ars Logica assists its clients in assessing their needs across a wide range of content-related tools and technologies, including digital asset management, portals, search, online marketing, and e-commerce applications. Taken together, these areas of research form the foundation for Ars Logica’s Customer Experience Management (CXM) practice, which it plans to launch at the beginning of Q2 2012.
