Midwest paper converter Resource One International announces that it will participate in the Wisconsin Profitable Sustainability Initiative. This program combines ways for manufacturing companies to emphasize environmental sustainability and lean practices while offering customers greater product and service value.

Savings will be shared with customers through higher product yields, less energy consumption, and lower pass-through transportation costs.

Resource One International, the Fox Valley, Wisconsin-based paper and materials converting company, has been selected to participate in the Wisconsin Profitable Sustainability Initiative offered by the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership in conjunction with support from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Tom Sonntag, president of Resource One, said the purpose of the initiative is to reduce materials use, energy consumption, emissions and unwanted by-products, while at the same time improving the value of products and services to customers. “Savings will be shared with customers through higher product yields, less energy consumption, and lower pass-through transportation costs,” Sonntag said.

As part of the Wisconsin Profitable Sustainability Initiative, Sonntag noted that Resource One has already developed a number of environmental sustainability efforts, including:

  •     Non-renewable energy consumption in the facility’s compressor systems as well as in relation to lighting inside and outside the facility and humidity control;
  •     Material use and optimization centered on increasing paper converting yields and minimizing raw materials, packaging and waste;
  •     Developing more efficient, cost-effective transportation modes.

As a specific example, Sonntag said Resource One is very proud of the fact that it heats 100 percent of its manufacturing facility with heat generated entirely from the manufacturing process. “We use renewable resources whenever possible and are constantly looking for creative ways to implement friendly changes in our paper converting processes,” Sonntag explained. “Our ongoing goal is to become better stewards of our environment to match with our philosophy that we do not inherit our surroundings but are borrowing them from the next generation.”

Headquartered in Little Chute, Wisconsin, Resource One International has been a global force in providing paper and material converting, distribution and packaging to leading corporations for over 30 years. Resource One’s capabilities include cut-size/digital sheeting, precision folio sheeting, precision guillotine trimming and paper finishing/packaging, paper distribution and warehousing, and custom services. Its converting services extend from light- to heavyweight coated and uncoated paper, synthetics, poly films, photo, waterproof, board and magnetic papers. Resource One’s quality assurance pledge is backed by rigorous checks and balances to continually refine its paper and material converting processes, ensuring that all services meet today’s strictest standards from the most demanding names in the paper industry.
