Fox Movie Mall Virtual Storefront

Fox Movie Mall provides a cool new way to discover and purchase movies with mobile visual search

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2012

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is introducing an app for iPhone and Android devices called Fox Movie Mall that gives consumers a unique new way to discover and purchase movies and TV shows with their smart phones.

Powered by IQ Engines, Fox Movie Mall provides a groundbreaking new shopping experience for consumers by allowing them to use their mobile phone to interact with virtual storefront installations at malls across the U.S. Each virtual storefront installation includes images from DVD and Blu-ray titles from the Fox catalog, as well as QR codes and messaging to encourage passersby to Stop, Scan and Shop.

When consumers scan an image from the virtual storefront, Fox Movie Mall uses advanced image recognition technology from IQ Engines to identify the movie, TV show or character. Based on the result, Movie Mall either takes the customer to an online store where they can purchase the DVD, queues up a trailer, or prompts them to download related games and apps.

“The Fox Movie Mall virtual storefronts are a truly unique experience for mall visitors,” said Mary Daily, President & CMO WW Marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “We are constantly looking for new opportunities to reach consumers and this technological advancement has allowed us to further engage with them by offering a convenient and fast way to get the movies they love.”

Gerry Pesavento, CEO of IQ Engines said, “We’re pleased that Fox Movie Mall has partnered with us on this industry first, and are using our VisionIQ image recognition platform to identify Fox movies and characters. This is a great mobile visual search showcase for us and we look forward to helping Fox recognize its entire catalog of visual assets in the future.”
