The entire SpoonerSpot experience is shaping into a really fun project, and we couldn’t have come as far as we have in the last week without the help of these amazing testers!

SpoonerSpot.com, a new social networking platform in development by CitySpoon Inc., has launched its final beta phase and has made significant improvements thanks to the helpful comments of the site’s many beta testers. SpoonerSpot, at its heart, is a social networking site that allows Spooners (SpoonerSpot users) to share information about their world; Spooners write short stories and upload photos to let their followers know more about their lives. Unlike most social networks, though, SpoonerSpot displays its information on a fully interactive, easy to use map of the world. As the focus of SpoonerSpot is to document places in addition to memories and ideas, this unique map based system takes advantage of a creative method for displaying user information, exhibiting recent Spots (user posts to SpoonerSpot) in a clear representation of where certain memories and ideas took place throughout the globe. This fun and new take on the traditional social networking model has already garnered significant success and great appeal throughout the online community, which has helped CitySpoon’s team improve the site’s functionality through a recently launched SpoonerSpot beta.

CitySpoon began a private beta testing phase early in 2012, and announced that a password protected beta site would be released for interested parties. This password protected version of the SpoonerSpot beta was launched at midnight on March 8th, 2012, and thanks to SpoonerSpot and CitySpoon’s already popular social media platforms received an instant flood of new users who were looking to being a part of the beta testing community. The popularity and buzz for SpoonerSpot continued throughout the day, and within the first 24 hours requests for log in information for the password protected beta became so great that CitySpoon’s team decided to remove the password protection from the beta and instead allow complete open access to SpoonerSpot.com for anyone interested in being a beta tester for the site.

Since the open release of the SpoonerSpot.com beta, the development team at CitySpoon has been hard at work making improvements to SpoonerSpot based on a great deal of feedback received from the beta testing community. The feedback from the beta testers has highlighted many desired features that Spooners felt would better enhance their experience with SpoonerSpot.com, while other feedback confirmed necessities for basic functionality that CitySpoon’s team was already working hard to implement in the near future. Through strong suggestions and helpful hints, these beta testers allowed CitySpoon’s development team to locate new areas of enhancement, upgrading the site’s already easy to use functionality while adding additional features to the core of SpoonerSpot.com.

“We want to make sure that SpoonerSpot works exactly as well as our users expect it,” said Bijan Safi, CitySpoon’s CEO. “A lot of the things our testers told us about were already in development, but a lot more were great fixes and wonderful ideas that will really improve the site. The entire SpoonerSpot experience is shaping into a really fun project, and we couldn’t have come as far as we have in the last week without the help of these amazing testers!”

Even with a few areas that are still being improved, the SpoonerSpot beta testing community has been quite active on the site. New Spots are being added every day and Spooners throughout the world are sharing their favorite memories and interacting with each other all through SpoonerSpot’s unique social networking platform that combines blogging with a geographic display. Every day new beta testers are joining signing up at SpoonerSpot.com, and each new user brings a variety of new uses for SpoonerSpot; business owners have already started using the SpoonerSpot map to learn what customers think of their businesses, savvy marketers are promoting their products and services through SpoonerSpot’s graphical display and basic users are using SpoonerSpot to share the important places in their lives with the other Spooners that follow them. As the site continues to improve additional and improved functionalities will make the SpoonerSpot experience even more engaging, pointing to a bright and successful future for CitySpoon Inc’s SpoonerSpot.com.
