“We’re proud to award this year’s prize to Joel McAfee and the Lil Dragon Entertainment team who helped to put a voice behind the growing coworking movement.” - Liz Elam, GCUC Curator
Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 19, 2012
The Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC), an all-day coworking conference that aims at giving the coworking community an opportunity to engage in person with one another, share purpose and passion, and refresh their energy in the process, today announced Joel McAfee of Lil Dragon Entertainment as the 2012 “I Share My Space” Video Contest winner for his video, CoWorking = High Fives.
The “I Share My Space” Video Contest kicked off at this year’s GCUC conference as part of a larger mission to bring the coworking community together in support of promoting the cause behind coworking, giving individuals and small businesses a workplace community and shared office space environment where they can thrive. Members of the coworking community were asked to submit videos about why they love coworking and their favorite coworking stories.
“Thank you to everyone who submitted videos to this year’s “I Share My Space” Video Contest. You all made it a great success and it wouldn’t have been possible without your participation,” said Liz Elam, Curator of GCUC. “We’re proud to award this year’s prize to Joel McAfee and the Lil Dragon Entertainment team who helped to put a voice behind the growing coworking movement.”
According to Deskmag, a coworking magazine, the coworking movement has roughly doubled in size each year since 2006. As the coworking movement continues to grow in popularity, it’s more important than ever to create a sense of community and a common language that embraces the shared definitions and stories behind this diverse community, which is why the contest was created.
Sponsors for this year’s event included:
- LiquidSpace, a mobile and web application that allows mobile workers to choose and book a better space to work or meet in real-time
- Medusa, a place maker that instantly drops into any space and creates a working environment

As winner of the “I Share My Space” Video Contest, Joel will receive $1,000 in prize money as well as a $1,000 donation to his charity of choice supplied by LiquidSpace.
