These are side effects of which Novartis, the manufacturer, failed to adequately warn. As a result, we are investigating claims that involve non-fatal strokes and serious kidney damage in patients taking Tekturna or Valturna.

Tekturna (aliskiren) and Valturna (aliskiren and valsartan) are medications used to treat high blood pressure and were approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2007. However, Tekturna and Valturna have been associated with serious side effects such as stroke and kidney complications. David Ennis of Ennis & Ennis, P.A. states, “These are side effects of which Novartis, the manufacturer, failed to adequately warn. As a result, we are investigating claims that involve non-fatal strokes and serious kidney damage in patients taking Tekturna or Valturna.”
Tekturna and Valturna were believed to not only help diabetics with blood pressure, but with renal issues as well. However, there was no scientific evidence supporting this, as Novartis had not completed any randomized, placebo-controlled studies for a period of more than a year in a specific population of patients with Type 2 diabetes and renal impairment. Therefore, Novartis commenced clinical trials (ALTITUDE) that tested the safety of diabetic usage.
Unfortunately, the trial revealed that the drug was not safe; in fact, it was dangerous. As a result, in December 2011, Novartis issued a press release announcing that it was terminating its clinical trial of the drug because patients in the study suffered high numbers of stroke, cardiac injury and kidney injuries after just 18-24 months of use of the drug.
