Nocturnal Sunrise is a glittering poetry collection budding out of the irrevocable sadness when life’s euphoria is crushed within a wink of an eye. It is filled with seeping thoughts wrapped with tenderness formed through life’s imperfections—beyond the madness of love, the harrowing betrayal, and the brutality of revenge. Poet and author Alison Strange-Green strips her heart of its gloomy layer to share to readers the sporadic truth about love’s darkened past.
Dark sombre verses reflecting the thoughts and memories of the author are brimming in this anthology. Its deep and often menacing content reveals life as seen through her eyes. Each verse concentrates on the heart-rending pain explored within relationships, trying to capture the torment, pain and suffering that are felt when betrayed. Each poem tries to explore readers’ deepest turmoil – emotions people often refuse to recognise, demonising such thoughts as though they don’t exist. Deep within this collection is a great passion trouncing beneath the darkened veil of sorrow and sadness. It dissects the deepest annals of human nature and compares the death of a relationship to that of a mortal. Each stage presents a different emotion with deepened sadness, blame, anger and ultimately, revenge.
Packed with pieces that seep in gothic undertones and imagery, this book also challenges the notion “love conquers all”. Love causes pain, but there is a glimmer of hope scattered throughout the poetry with uplifting mood of joyous times. Nocturnal Sunrise is indeed a morose and melancholic read but carrying an upbeat and heartening message.
This book will be featured at the 2012 London Book Exhibit in London, England on Apr. 16 - Apr. 18, 2012.
