NavigationArts is thrilled to announce the launch of a refreshed website for the National Aquarium. With locations in downtown Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, the National Aquarium draws millions of visitors each year to its fascinating exhibits which contain a wide array of wildlife, ranging from the piranha of the Amazon River Basin to the alligators of the Florida Everglades.

The National Aquarium reached out to NavigationArts to create a new engaging website for their guests and a robust behind-the-scenes Content Management System (CMS) that would enable them to efficiently update content. They also wanted an immersive web experience that would infuse new life into their mission as well as increase conversion in ticket sales, membership enrollments, donations, and events participation.

“The National Aquarium’s new website will change the way we interact with our guests by engaging them through rich, timely, and dynamic content, and, by inspiring them to protect the world’s aquatic treasures,” said Genevieve Liboiron, Director of Digital Marketing at the National Aquarium. “With its captivating visuals, intuitive navigation, and interactive tools in addition to a well architected CMS, our new website will translate into increased revenues and efficiency.”

The new National Aquarium website is a visual tour de force. NavigationArts’ user interface and information architecture teams worked in tandem to realize the vision of seemingly floating imagery and architecture. Key to the redesign was helping visitors understand the National Aquarium beyond the aquatic exhibits, particularly elevating their conservation content. Ways to become involved in local conservation communities are highlighted alongside educational material and powerful messaging. Clear calls to action drive visitors along a path that is as visually stunning as it is informative.
