Leading short haul holiday specialists introduce the tiny Mediterranean island of Malta as the destination of the month for April

Sovereign have long been offering luxurious long and short haul holidays to a wide range of destinations around the world. In a move to help consumers with their choice of holiday, they recently introduced a ‘destination of the month’ section on the website to inform users about a particular destination they might not have otherwise considered. This April, the destination of the month is set to be Malta.

Malta is a tiny island nation located in the Mediterranean sea just south of Sicily, a popular holiday destination for a variety of reasons, it boasts warm year-round temperatures and stunning natural scenery as well as some of the oldest free-standing man-made structures in the world, the Megalithic temples. The slower pace of life on Malta makes it perfect for anyone who wants a relaxing, carefree break, and an alternative to Greece or Spain holidays.

The island is dotted with quaint towns, all with their own unique culture waiting to be discovered. The capital is Valletta, located on the east cost of Malta it is home to many historic buildings, most notably in its harbour area, which also hosts the annual Malta international fireworks festival.

Although Malta generally enjoys a laidback atmosphere, there are a multitude of events and activities to keep holiday makers busy, these include; the Malta arts festival, the Delicata wine festival, displays by the country’s military and the Rolex middle sea race. If you really want to get away from it all then Malta’s sister island, Gozo is the place for you, with heaps of rural charm.
