The Youth Step Camp Will Offer Healthy Eating and Step Workshops for Children K-12

In an effort to continue to promote its fight against childhood obesity, the Art of Stepping will host its first Youth Step Camp, a one-day step clinic, where children will have the opportunity to attend workshops about eating healthy and staying fit, and learn the basic fundamentals of stepping.

The Youth Step Camp will be held at the Soundview School for Culture and Scholarship in the Bronx on Saturday, March 24. For a ten-dollar admission fee, children K-12 will enjoy a day of health and fitness workshops, learn the basic principles to the art of stepping, and participate in a step competition at the end of the day. The competition is free to the students’ parents, friends and family members and will be judged based on precision, creativity, and overall performance.

Combining its mission towards the fight against childhood obesity with its national initiative, Sneakers 2 Succeed, the Youth Step Camp will also allow for parents, children, and all those in attendance the opportunity to donate a pair of sneakers for families in need. The Sneakers 2 Succeed campaign, which launched in July 2011 in partnership with NBA Orlando Magic point-guard, Chris Duhon’s Stand Tall Foundation, has secured over 14 drop off locations nationwide and donated over 1,000 sneakers to national and local charities.

“In our continuous fight against childhood obesity, we are consistently creating fun and innovative ways to promote health and fitness via the art of stepping,” said Jessica Saul, AOS founder. “The Youth Step Clinic allows for students to learn about eating healthy and how staying fit can be fun. Our goal is to encourage all children to stay active and lead healthy lives, and a community step clinic does just that!” said Saul.
