Bloomsbury acquires equestrian themed fantasy series for young girls from Jeff Norton's Awesome Media & Entertainment Ltd. in a six book deal.

Bloomsbury Children’s Books have acquired world rights from Nancy Miles (Miles Stott Children’s Literary Agency) in Princess Ponies a mega young-fiction series for 6+ girls, combining magical adventure with a subtle guide to the complex world of friendship.

Set in the magical world of Equestria, readers join human girl Pippa as she arrives to find princess ponies in trouble, and tackles issues such as whether it’s OK to have two best friends.

Senior Editor Ele Fountain says, "it’s impossible to resist such a perfect confection, which is both rich and moreish, but mostly appeals to every young girl instinct I have."

Princess Ponies is written by Chloe Ryder, the pen name for the collaboration between series creator Jeff Norton and children’s author Julie Sykes.

Norton, who originated the series for his young niece, says, "Princess Ponies is filled with magic, adventure and friendship, and I’m thrilled that Bloomsbury will be transporting young readers to the enchanted island of Equestria!"

Bloomsbury will publish three titles on Valentine’s Day 2013, with three more to follow in May.
