Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake is a non-profit organization that provides life-changing, positive youth development programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. Their mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K running event with healthy living education. The program instills self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring and physical training – all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community. There are currently 31 Girls on the Run program sites throughout Anne Arundel County. To learn more about Girls on the Run, visit http://www.gotrchesapeake.org.
