Parker Waichman LLP, a national law firm representing people injured by defective medical devices, has filed lawsuits on behalf of 13 people allegedly injured by various Zimmer NexGen Knee Implant components. All of the Zimmer NexGen Knee implant lawsuits were filed the week of March 5, 2012 as part of the multidistrict litigation currently underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois (MDL 2272). The complaints name Zimmer, Inc., Zimmer Holdings, Inc., and Zimmer Orthopaedic Surgical Products, Inc. as Defendants.

Zimmer NexGen Knee Implant plaintiffs being represented by Parker Waichman LLP include a man from Idaho who underwent revision surgery on June 15, 2010 due to an allegedly defective Zimmer NexGen CR-Flex component (Case No. 1:112-cv-00113-REB). A North Carolina plaintiff who received the same Zimmer NexGen knee component alleges that the defective device caused him to undergo revision surgery on February 2, 2009 (Case No. 5:12-cv-00030- RLV-DSC). A Pennsylvania man who received a Zimmer NexGen LPS-Flex component alleges he underwent revision surgery on April 14, 2009 (Case No. 2:12-cv-01241-MSG) because the device was defective.

All of the Zimmer NexGen Knee lawsuits filed by Parker Waichman LLP allege that Plaintiffs have suffered injuries as a result of the named Zimmer NexGen Knee device(s) manufactured by the Defendants. The lawsuits assert that as a result of their injuries, the Plaintiffs are entitled to recover compensatory damages for pain and suffering and emotional distress and for economic loss as well as punitive damages.

In August 2011, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ordered that lawsuits involving various Zimmer NexGen Knee Replacement components be consolidated in a multidistrict litigation and transferred to the U.S. District Court, Easter District of Illinois. (RE: Zimmer NexGen Knee Implant -Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2272). The Zimmer NexGen Knee MDL is being presided over by Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer. Lawsuits pending in the litigation involve allegations that various Zimmer NexGen Knee Implant components, including the Zimmer NexGen LPS-Flex, Zimmer NexGen CR-Flex, Zimmer NexGen GSF LPS-Flex, Zimmer NexGen GSF CR-Flex, and Zimmer NexGen MIS Tibial components, are defective and have caused serious injuries, including the pain, disability and the need for revision surgery.
