Mexpro.com, the leading provider of Mexican Tourist Auto Insurance for US and Canadian plated vehicles, has recently compiled a list of the premium sales and loss results for the top ten Mexico Tourist Auto Insurance Companies for 2011. The data was released earlier this month by AMIS (Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions).
The report can be found at http://www.mexpro.com/mexico/faqcoverage.html
Some highlights of the report:
- Premiums decreased by 21%, due to fewer US and Canadian tourists driving to Mexico
- Claims and loss ratios also decreased slightly.
The report also notes the AM Best Rating of each of the insurers.
Jim Labelle, President of http://www.mexpro.com parent company International Insurance Group, Inc., stated that "these decreased premium sales results are not surprising given the perfect storm impacting the numbers of foreigners driving into Mexico over the past several years, including the US recession, passports becoming mandatory for land travel, and the fear of being impacted by cartel violence in Mexico. Surprising to many, however, will be the fact that while total premium sales decreased, loss and claims ratios did not increase. The lack of an increase in losses, in my mind, indicates that it is just as safe as it has historically been for American and Canadians to drive in Mexico, from a claims standpoint".
http://www.mexpro.com reminds purchasers of insurance for Mexico to research the insurance companies from whom they buy coverage. Mexpro.com only represents Mexican insurers who are AM Best rated, or who have parent companies which carry an AM Best Rating.
