Street Toyota Offers Its Employees A Multitude of Classes and Training

Street Toyota of Amarillo offers its employees a variety of classes and training to better assist customers who visit the dealership and improve everything they do.

The reason for all these classes and training is so that our employees are better prepared to handle real-life experiences and to assist our customers better,” Good said.

Street Toyota Scion offers its employees many opportunities to further their knowledge on the company, their products, leadership skills and customer service skills with weekly classes given by managers and fellow co-workers.

“We always want to improve on everything we do,” Mike Good, Street Toyota General Sales Manager said. “We offer many classes for our employees to take so they can make our guests’ experience a more enjoyable one.”

Kevin Liu, Sales Manager, gives a leadership class each week to some of the Street Toyota employees. The employees are currently reading, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,” by John C. Maxwell and each week they discuss what they read and apply it to daily real-life experiences.

“This is a great opportunity to grow as leaders,” Samantha Conner, Internet Marketing Manager said. “The lessons are great and talking about each chapter in a group enhances the learning experience.”

Managers Cory DuPriest, Steven Christian, Scott Stoneham, Gus Shamir, Kevin Liu and Dave Walker lead a weekly warm-up with the sales people and discusses a variety of things related to Toyota, new vehicles and their products. During the session the employees review worksheets about the new features Toyota offers in its vehicles and after the sessions they do a walk around the vehicles and examine them first-hand. This allows them to better assist and answer questions from customers.

“We cover information that is very valuable to the salespeople because they will be better prepared to answer questions from customers,” Walker said.

In addition to the classes and training offered at the dealership, some employees signed up for a 12-week Dale Carnegie Training class in Amarillo to discuss leadership. Employees attended the class once a week on Monday night and reviewed material which enhanced their leadership skills.

“The reason for all these classes and training is so that our employees are better prepared to handle real-life experiences and to assist our customers better,” Good said.

Street Toyota in Amarillo, Texas was established in 1982. A new 58,000 square foot facility on 9 acres is now open at 45th and Soncy. This is a state of the art facility and the customer's comfort has been emphasized from the ample parking right down to the gourmet coffee. Street Toyota is the first dealer in west Texas to become Signature Certified.

Street Toyota has been a valuable corporate citizen in the Panhandle area. They provide support to area nonprofit organizations such as United Way, Better Business Bureau, Amarillo Adult Literacy, Harrington Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Museum of Art, Amarillo Little Theater, Lone Star Ballet, Discovery Center, Globe News Center for the Performing Arts, CACHA (Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) and many other organizations.
