Empathy Lab Joins the DECE – the Consortium Behind UltraViolet

Having worked with the DECE since 2008, Empathy Lab will now be an active participant in shaping the UltraViolet Service.

Empathy Lab, a fast growing digital media agency in the Philadelphia area, has joined the world's leading media and technology companies as a member of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), an alliance of approximately 85 companies, including many of the world's top movie studios, technology providers, consumer device makers, entertainment retailers and video service providers. The alliance has come together to create and operate UltraVioletTM, a groundbreaking open ecosystem that offers consumers a new and compelling way to collect and enjoy home video entertainment. Centered on a shared, cloud-based account, UltraViolet allows consumers to create personal virtual video libraries, with the freedom to access movies and TV shows through download, streaming or physical copy – both at home and on-the-go – across multiple devices.

Empathy Lab has worked with the DECE since 2008 in an interactive design agency capacity, and now, as a member organization, will be an active participant in shaping the UltraViolet service.

“Empathy Lab is one of the true experts on how UltraViolet works for the end-user, and how companies deploying UltraViolet can bring that to their consumers,” said Mark Teitell, General Manager of DECE. “As a strategically-important service provider to DECE during the past several formative years, they have been a key part of designing the UltraViolet experience – and now, we are happy to have them formally become a DECE Member company.” Empathy Lab will continue to assist the DECE in user experience development, and will also now, as a member, participate in membership-level planning activities.

Jon Molod, SVP of Media and Entertainment said of the membership, "Many of our clients have come to us for their UltraViolet user experience designs, and we've increasingly been consulting with companies on how they can leverage the UltraViolet platform because of our long history with the DECE. It makes sense now for us to be a member, to give us a voice at the table and to help the DECE define the future of this platform."

Empathy Lab continues to shape the market for customer-facing digital entertainment experiences that drive loyalty and retention with existing customers and revenue through new customer recruitment. The agency works with everyone from content providers and studios to MVPDs (multi-channel video programming distributors), designing and deploying new strategies and tactics within the TVE, OTT, UltraViolet and EST (Electronic Sell Through) platforms. Empathy Lab’s Media & Entertainment clients include a globally diverse group of companies including Liberty Global, Rogers Communications, Comcast/NBCU, DirecTV, Cogeco, Sony, Music Choice, WWE and the DECE (UltraViolet).
